Welcome to the website of the International Society for Archaeoastronomy and Astronomy in Culture (ISAAC). Founded in 1996, we are the global professional organization promoting the academic development of archaeoastronomy and ethnoastronomy (known collectively as Cultural Astronomy).
You can learn more about what we do by watching the following series of lectures entitled "Stellar Connections: Explorations in Cultural Astronomy".
Membership is available for two categories:
- Full (practicing, published researchers);
- Associate (public, students, and educators).
Membership is for triennial (3-year) terms.

Journal of Astronomy in Culture
"Oxford" Conference Proceedings
ISAAC is happy to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed, open access journal: the Journal of Astronomy in Culture (JAC). This new journal is published through the University of California eScholarship and will publish quality papers twice yearly, in June and December.
Visit the journal's webpage for information about aim, scope, policies, editorial board, and submission guidelines. Manuscripts have a 10,000 word limit and use the Society of American Archeology Style Guide.
Papers presented at ISAAC's "Oxford" conferences are published as peer-reviewed edited volumes. Click below for information on each volume (or to purchace). Some volumes are out of print.
